Tourist Submarine missing

Not looking good.
The super rich pay €250k for being submerged in a tiny space under water for days. It wouldn't be on my bucket list even if free.

Absolutely.
In fact, when I got my golden redundancy handshake from BT, a trip on Concorde was at about number 5 on my bucket-list (I had some sort of see-how-many-countries-you-can-visit-in-a-month notion that I never followed through on).
I was in the 4th year of my OU studies and reluctant to give those up, so the notion got less and less traction.
Eventually I started my own business and that sort of thing - along with any social life at all - went right out of the window. I just didn't fancy one of those loop around the North Sea at Mach 2 for 30 minutes jobs.
When I got back into a state where I could fly on it, it had, by then, been retired.

Apparently, the pressure of 6,000lb / in will cause the bodies to jellify and are extruded through the gaps in the hull.

The Carbon/Titanium shell is tough enough to withsatnd these extreme pressures. But it had flaws as in a bubble. Actually one big one containing 5 people.
They would have been crushed in milli seconds sanwiched together between the outer casing to 5cm thickness.

I see it as a bit different as climbing a mountain.
You can at least make the decision to turn yourself back on a mountain and walk back down it. Once they were bolted in from the outside in that death trap, it was a 1 way ticket to having your guts squeezed out your japs eye.

Guess it's a bit like why would you potentially end up freezing to death just to climb a mountain? Not the same obviously but I am sure many of us have got on a rollercoaster or bungee jump whilst not after asking to see the latest safety certificate? In this case I suspect the fact that the owner/CEO whoever was also there it certainly places a false sense of security, but like others have said I certainly wouldn't have gone in that even if someone had paid me to.

Nurse- I'm 100% with you. I think my survival instinct would kick in as well, and I'd just say 'no thanks'. I'm not particularly claustrophobic, but I am sort of risk averse, so I think not. Suppose most of those who went on are those who love risk- hence being so wealthy. Maybe just that mindset.
I reckon though, that there are factors why people would get in. Firstly the huge amount of money they paid, secondly the seeming size of the operation- you look at the ship and all the support staff (clearly why they charge so much to charter that lot) It LOOKS like a very professional and trustworthy outfit in that respect. There's also a certain amount of (misplaced) trust I guess, that the owner of the company wilfully goes in every trip and also that French guy- the expert who has been down loads- and of course the past times the sub did the trip would lead one to deduce it would be ok. It probably gives reassurance of safety.

Going by the videos from the proper experts, and that YouTube guy just below, there's no way I'd have gone in there.

I've been trying to work out if I'm an absolute craven coward, or whether the people who have ridden that submersible are lacking part of their survival instinct.

Wow. That's nuts when you watch that video in the context of what happened a day or two afterwards. That bloke is so fucking lucky. Imagine how eerie it would be watching that video were he one of them, or i it was one of the five instead of this bloke (yes i know the footage from on the sub wouldn't be there, obvs, but still- all the lead up and the excitement with no-one knowing what's about to happen)
